Senior Parent Meeting

To help parents/guardians navigate their students 12th grade year,

we will be having a SENIOR PARENT MEETING on September 30th at 6:30 pm

in the High School Auditorium. 

We will inform you about important senior student topics such as: applying for college, financial aid, scholarships, yearbook details, senior pictures,

cap/gown orders and graduation announcements.

Please consider attending this important meeting.


Marquette/Alger Counties College Fair
Northern Michigan University will host the Marquette/Alger
Counties College Fair on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at the Northern Center, Grand Ballroom. The program will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and is open to all high school juniors, seniors and their parents. Representatives from approximately 40 colleges and universities, including several out-of-state schools, will be present to answer questions about their academic programs, costs, support services, and campus life. A number of representatives from
the Armed Forces and ROTC Programs will also be in attendance. In addition, NMU’s Financial Aid Office will be in attendance to answer questions about the financial aid process.
The following colleges, universities and armed services will be represented:

Women In Construction

NMU is hosting a hands-on career exploration day for females in grades 9-12 interested in the construction industry. There will be active, hands-on learning, woodworking, welding, and much more. This free event is Friday, October 18th at the Jacobetti Complex. Registration closes on September 30th and is limited to the first 100 registrants. Sign up in the Guidance Office if you are interested in attending.  Visit the NMU website at more information.  

There will be an informational meeting on Friday, September 20th during 2nd Hour for those students who have signed up or are interested in attending this event.  Please sign up in the Guidance Office.

This Letter to Seniors  has important information and resources to maximize your opportunities for State of Michigan aid programs.  It will explain steps in the financial aid process and how to access the MiSSG Student Portal.   You can also sign up for text message reminders when you visit the following website: 



*Colleges require your final transcript to complete your enrollment. It is your responsibility to order your transcript through We DO NOT automatically send.

 *Order your transcript now! After requesting your transcript, it will be put on hold until final grades are complete. Transcripts will be available after June 20th.

 *Prior to June 20th, in parchment, you will need to update your email to your personal email account, as your school email will be deleted.

 * Transfer your Google Docs! Visit the help link on the Guidance Office website:

 *After July 31st, parchment will charge $3.25 per transcript order.

*A reminder to seniors:
 After applying to college and universities, you must request your transcript through  
DO NOT send a transcript to yourself. 
This service is only for sending to colleges. 
Any other reason for a transcript (scholarships, job applications etc...) should be done in person through the Guidance Office. 

There will be a series of steps to activate your account:
1. Log in as a learner with your school email and password.
2. Click the + sign to add Negaunee High School to your account.
3. Answer a series of questions regarding your birthday, gender and dates attending Negaunee High School. 
4. Read the FERPA agreement and click "waive" or "do not waive" my rights to view the submitted documents. 
5. Click the box to "authorize storage" of your transcript on Parchment.
6. Click the blue "consent and request" button. 

Once you have finished setting up your account, from here on, you will be able to order your transcripts to be sent to colleges.
